Story Book Atelier is our Tuesday story time, reimagined as a small studio session. At 9:45 AM, toddlers (ages one to three) share board books, songs and gentle movement on the rug. At 11:15 AM, preschoolers (ages four to eight) hear a longer story and finish with a simple, hands-on craft inspired by the book.
Caregivers are welcome to stay with a cortado — the Kids Room opens directly onto the coffee bar, and there is always a chair with a view of the rug.
How each session unfolds
- 01
Gather and connect
A warm welcome creates a predictable beginning and allows children to settle into the space with their caregivers.
- 02
Experience the story
The book is shared using expressive reading, repetition, thoughtful questions, gestures and age-appropriate language prompts.
- 03
Move and respond
Music, scarves, rhythm, songs, dramatic movement or whole-body play extend the story and support engagement.
- 04
Create
Children explore a book-inspired invitation using art, sensory and construction materials selected for the particular story and developmental group.
- 05
Close together
A brief reflection, sharing moment or closing ritual gives the experience a calm and connected ending.
